Arrival in Seoul

Seoul is an exciting city where people speak audibly and jaywalk.  Tonight we explored some of the city on foot and even ventured into a restaurant with no English menu.  Thanks to some alphabet study on the plane we deciphered bi-bim-bap and managed to ask for it without meat.  The woman who served us benevolently stirred our food for us because we had done it inadequately.  It was good to have her guidance in this and other matters of the dining experience.

We then hiked up to the Seoul tower which was more of a hike and more of a tourist trap than we had had in mind but provided a beautiful view of the city at night.  Seoul seems to be a city larger than life, a mix of modernity and history, and impossible to take in in only a few days.  A long day of travel, walking, and seeing new things, but looking forward to the next few days.
